Inside Out
I finished my “Inside Out” socks just in time! I actually finished the knitting on Sunday, but didn’t weave in the ends until today. I won’t be wearing socks for a few months, so I wasn’t in a hurry. It’s flip flop weather here and although I love socks, I do not wear them in the summer at all! This was the February Sock kit for the Rockin’ Sock Club from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. Yarn is STR Mediumweight in the “Monsoon” colorway. The April kit (we get a new one every other month) has already shipped and several people have already received theirs. The new one looks very exciting and I can’t wait for mine to come in the mail!
Last night was soccer practice and for half an hour the only kids there were Kristopher and another little girl, which was really nice and then the other little girl had to leave so it was just Kristopher. The coach offered to stay and play with him for a little bit and it was really helpful. I think it was the best soccer practice yet, because Kristopher might have actually learned something! It’s so hard to get information into a group of 5 year olds running around with a ball, so it’s really great when they get one on one time with the coach (especially when the coach actually knows how to play soccer, which doesn’t always happen in this league with the little kids!) Anyway, I am glad that we went last night, since I was considering not going. I woke up okay yesterday and then halfway through the day was just hit with a cold or some illness. Everything hurts and my nose is running and I don’t even want to knit!
Yesterday was also the last storytime at the Library for Taylor until the fall. She has really enjoyed it and I do too! I took Kristopher a couple of times when he was about 2 and he really didn’t get into it or seem to enjoy it, but Taylor is totally different. I can’t believe that I have two children who are completely different. It’s just amazing to me. We do have an amazing God though and He created them:)
In other knitting news, I am still working on the Japanese Feather scarf and the bow-tied bolero. Hopefully I can show FO’s soon! I will probably be starting the new sock club kit when it gets here and I did start a new pair of socks as soon as I cast off the Inside Out’s. They are from “Favorite Socks“, but I can’t remember what the name is right now.

Go to 5 Minutes for Mom and you could win a 9″ Phillips digital frame! I already entered, since I have been wanting a digital frame for awhile now. Really hoping to win, but there are already lots of people entered!

…since I’ve posted! I have been meaning to for about a week now, but never seem to be alone when I make it back to the computer. It’s really hard for me to post something decent while trying to hold Taylor and keep her hands away from the keyboard while listening to Kristopher tell me anything;)
We had a great Easter, even though it was very cold. Taylor wore her pretty pink dress and Kristopher had a nice blue shirt for the boy/girl thing (because I’m weird like that). In the morning we went to church for the Easter dramatical concert, which was great! A few months back I think I posted about joining the choir for the Easter musical and it didn’t work out with Kody being out of town and the kids being sick so much, but I knew all the songs and still loved watching it. We hid eggs at Gram & Grandaddy’s house and made a nice dinner over there. The weekend before Easter was the Holy Treasure hunt (eggs, and games/crafts) at our church and Kristopher and I were able to go to that too (Taylor was sick). (Kristopher is the one in the Yellow shirt)
Soccer is on a break right now. I think our next game is actually the 21st, but we haven’t had any the last 2 weeks because of Easter. I’m glad, since it has been too cold for standing on the sidelines! It will be nice to get out soon though. Kristopher had Spring Break this week and only has a few more weeks of school before summer. He will miss it and I know I will for sure. It has been a wonderful program and a big help for me to have 2 days with just Taylor during the week. School starts August 7th here so Kindergarten is not far off.
In crafty news, I made the kids easter baskets this year since the only ones we had were handle-less and we needed some that could be carried. I really love metal pails so I covered a couple with fabric and ribbon and painted their names on. I think they turned out really well.
I’ve started the big project that I made myself for Taylor’s birthday this year. It’s in September, but I needed to start now because I have a lot of sewing and knitting to to before then. We are going to give her a Bitty Baby (by American Girl) and instead of buying all kinds of accesories I am making the doll a wardrobe and diaper bag and quilt/blanket with matching cushions for the wood cradle that I had when I was little. I am really excited about it all and have finished 2 outfits so far. I still have a long way to go though. You’ll probably be seeing bits of this project as I finish. The doll came Friday, so I have actually tried these two outfits on and they fit perfect…very cute!
I have also been knitting. I am still working on my second sock for the club and not moving very fast. I can’t wait for the second shipment that should be here at the end of the month. I started a bow tied bolero from Debbie Bliss’s book Special Knits and have finished the back and am on the left front now. Since I couldn’t have just two projects going I had to start something else. Today I cast on Anne’s Japanese Feather Scarf in some beautifully hand-dyed 100% silk from Lavender Sheep. I think it is “Chocolate Raspberry” and I love it. The scarf looks so much prettier in person – I don’t think the colors look near as nice in the picture. It will be for me…my summer scarf :)
I think that’s all for now. Hopefully I will be back sooner than 2 weeks this time! God Bless you all!

There’s a sock in the grass!
Yes, I finished my first Monsoon sock from the Rockin’ Sock club’s February kit. I can’t say that it was all that enjoyable, but I did get a pretty nice sock. I probably won’t ever make this pattern again, because I really don’t like the ribbed foot…it feels funny when you are walking on it. I also am not fond of the toe up garter stitch short row toe and heel, but it was interesting to learn how to do them. I prefer to make my socks cuff down. I did like the reversible cable pattern though and might use it again (cuff down of course). I am planning to make the second sock of this pair, but might take a little break. It’s almost time for the next kit anyway, maybe I will like it better. At least the sock looks good in the grass! I went out to take pictures and my foot almost dissapeared into the ground:)
Later today I am going to try to work on the vestee for Taylor. I am going to rip out all that I have done (about 3 inches) and start it again with smaller needles. I decided that I didn’t like the fabric or gauge I was getting with the US 7s.
Apparently I missed “Flash Your Stash 2007″ yesterday. I did flash part of my stash last week, because I didn’t know there was a day for it! I am still planning a lace stash day (although it isn’t anywhere near as big as my sock yarn stash!) and someday I may get around to more of it. I have a quite substantial stash from which to choose even though I’ve only been knitting about 2 years, mostly because my grandmother has given me so much of hers! I have bought quite a bit too and have just recently tried to cut back and use some of what I have first. That would be the smart thing to do, but I guess I do have some that I just don’t want to knit like every knitter; it will always be stash!
We’ve been sick around here a bit more. Taylor mostly, but I think Kristopher may have had a bit of a cold this weekend too. I can’t really tell if the sniffling (and extra whining) was cold or allergy related. Kody came home Thursday night, for anyone intersted. It has been nice, but since he returned he has instituted a full house spring cleaning. I was kind of looking forward to the outside spring cleaning, but now I have a lot of extra stuff to do in the house too… Maybe we’ll get it done soon.
Happy April, everyone!
