School’s Out!
Yesterday was Kristopher’s last day of Kindergarten! It was a great first year of school for him and for me too:) I’m glad summer break is here. We have lots of fun things planned, although I think Kristopher’s plans include lots of Mario… Wednesday the school had an awards ceremony for Kindergarten-Fourth grades and we went not knowing if Kristopher would get anything or not. He got a Reading award and one from the Computer Lab. After the Kindergarten was over Taylor and I went outside the doors and watched from the side while they announced the first grade awards, not expecting anything else. Then the specials teachers gave some awards (Music, Art, Library) and Kristopher was the boy selected from his class for the Music award! I was very surprised. I knew that he enjoyed going to music, but I didn’t realize that he liked it that much or was doing the “best”! He was very excited to get three and we are very excited for him. He is doing so well in everything. It was nice that every K/1 child got some kind of award too, and many got several. Then yesterday was a big day of fun for all the kids. There were games and activities outside all morning and part of the afternoon. Taylor and I didn’t go, since I’ve been so tired lately. I didn’t think I could handle being outside for several hours and chasing her while trying to watch Kristopher and have fun. But he had fun and was sunburned when I went to pick him up. His face had been painted with a little rabbit sometime in the morning and when we washed it off he had an outline where he was sunburned around it. I wish I had thought to put sunscreen on him in the morning, so it wouldn’t have been as bad.
Our house was supposed to close this week (today actually), but now it is postponed for about a week and a half. The bank isn’t finished with the loan stuff and the closing agent is going on vacation today for a week, so we just have to wait until she gets back. We should close on June 3 or 4, for anyone who cares to know.
Taylor has been potty training now for a couple of weeks and for the most part it seems like she has it down. She has been going most of the time, with only a few accidents. Yesterday was a hard day for her, for some reason, but she still made it some of the time. I’m so glad that I won’t have two in diapers…I was really worried until this week that I would in September!
I don’t have much else this morning. I can’t do pictures right now, because our monitor is broken and has to be sent back and stuff isn’t hooked up so that I can get pictures off the camera right now. Maybe soon we will hook up a different monitor so I can get them and put some on here. Hope you all have a good day!

Most of this will be pictures, but I will try to write a little. I can’t even remember all that we have done for the last 4 and a half months and I haven’t been doing a very good job of taking pictures this year, so there isn’t much that I guess I can talk about! You already know the big things (baby and house), so here are a few “catch-up” items.
In January we celebrated Kody and Kristopher’s birthday. I was very sick the whole week of their birthday, so I didn’t make a big deal of the actual day. On the Saturday following, Kristopher got to take 2 friends to see The VeggieTales Pirate movie at the theatre and then we picked up some pizza on the way home. He wanted a knight themed party, so I made his cake and we bought a coloring castle that was fun. Unfortunately Taylor wanted to demolish it and it didn’t last much longer than a day! I think Kristopher and his friends had fun, and by then I was feeling better, so I enjoyed the movie. They did make us sit in the very front row though, which is not the best place to sit. Here are pictures of the cake and castle – I haven’t been taking great pictures this year, even when I do remember to take them, so excuse the camera skills.
Here is Easter in Pictures:

We lost our cat, Winnie, a couple of weeks ago. She just dissapeared, so we don’t know if she left or died or was killed. We haven’t found a body anywhere, so who knows. The kids were a little upset, but seem to be okay and don’t ask about her. Kristopher still talks about our last cat, who he probably let out of the house (really my cat, I’d had him for 10 years when he left), but he seems to be okay with this so far. Winnie was mostly outside and she had never wandered off before, so that seems unlikely. We aren’t expecting her to return…Here are some pictures of her pretty recently. She was a good outside cat and seemed to stay out of trouble out there. She caught lots of mice for us too:) Right before she dissapeared a Tom Cat started hanging around (Winnie was spayed though) and I don’t know if that had something to do with the dissapearance.
And those are all the pictures I have uploaded. Kristopher has been playing soccer as I know I have mentioned, but I have forgotten the camera at most of the games and at the others I didn’t take any pictures worth posting. Our banquet is this Friday night and then the last game is on Saturday. Kristopher is more dissapointed that it is ending than I thought he would be. I really hope I can figure out a way for him to play in the fall.
Still no further news about the house. I hope that I am doing everything right and that we close by the 24th. I have not been actively doing aything with the bank or anyone else the last couple of days and it feels weird not to be on the phone or in someone’s office, so hopefully I’m not supposed to be somewhere! I’m sure they’d tell me, so for now we are waiting…
Have a great day! I have to go open some yogurt now…Taylor is hungry…again. She has been eating a lot lately, maybe she’s going to grow taller:)

bouncing baby boy! Really, through the whole ultrasound he wouldn’t stop moving. He moves around all the time and I feel most of it now. Especially on my bladder… (I know, TMI) Everything was perfect; five fingers, five toes, right size. He kept putting his little hands up to his face, probably sucking his thumb, and wouldn’t turn over for the sonographer. We got some nice little pictures though:)
Everyone in our family is very excited and it’s so nice to know earlier than September. Kristopher told me before he went to school this morning that I didn’t need to go find out because it was a boy and he was right, so I can’t wait to tell him:) Taylor is glad too, at least she says she is…she may still not really understand.
I went through all the baby clothes we have last week and seperated the boy and girl stuff, so now I am very excited to get out the baby boy things and get them ready. I saw a lot of things that I had forgotten about that Kristopher wore and it will be so much fun to use them again. I guess I will wait to do much until we move though.
We are still working on finding an insurance company that we like for home insurance and we will probably switch our car insurance too, since the one we have our car through is not the best now that we have been shopping around! I think we will know by the end of the day who we are going with though and then we can notify the bank and proceed forward some more! We are getting really excited about the house. Just this weekend we were wishing that we could start packing boxes. But we held ourselves back, since we still have almost 2 weeks before the closing date and then we will have to clean.
We found out today that Kody is going to have to go to Dayton one of the weeks in June, for some more training. So, unfortunately he won’t be around for that week to help and the week before that he will be covering someone else’s vacation. Hopefully we will close on time and then be able to get moving on the cleaning and repairs before that happens. I’m really obsessing about the living room and kitchen…that’s where I want to start (after the cleaning of the whole house). I spend most of my time in those two rooms and I would like to have lovely colors and good floors to look at while I’m in there. Plus when people come by those are often the rooms they see. For right now we are enjoying dreaming:)
Next up, maybe later today if I get time, there will be a post with pictures of what we’ve been up to for the last several months. Enjoy your day everyone!
Filed under News | Comment (0)Knitting Update
but, sadly, no sewing update. There hasn’t been any sewing around here for several months now, but hopefully there will be some soon.
I didn’t feel like knitting for the first couple of months of 2008, so there wasn’t any progress on the things that I hadn’t already finished. So some of the things (okay, most of them) that are in the picture are things that you have already seen.
The items you see are:
1. Bryant’s Slipover from Interweave (fall 2007?) – it was a free download when the magazine came out. I really want to finish this one, but I sure haven’t worked on it and am not likely to much this summer. It may be finished around 2010! This one is the pink and charcoal at the top.
2. Juno Regina is the orangy stole in the middle. I started this in November, and decided that I wanted to work on it this week, so I got to the end of the first diamond section. Now I am on the boring long stretch accross the middle. I hope to finish this sometime this summer. It will be very nice even though I have made some mistakes. I never go back on lace to fix the mistakes. I’m too afraid it will all come out and I’ll have to knit it all again, so the mistakes stay. I will rip back anything else to fix mistakes though – so maybe someday I will be fearless enough to rip the lace back… The yarn is The Plucky Knitter Lace in color Pumpkin Patch.
3. At the other top corner you see the first Violets Rising sock. This is a pattern from Knitspot with the Yarn4Socks club kit. The yarn included is from The Woolen Rabbit and is the Herb Robert colorway. I really like this sock, it was just put down during the I don’t want to knit right now time and I have started working on it a little bit again.
4. My Chevron Scarf, in the two purple sock yarns from Fearless Fibers, is coming along. I have actually worked on this quite a bit. I think it will end up being Taylor’s scarf since she likes purple now. That way I don’t have to make it quite as long either and I can make her some matching socks with all the leftovers! It is about half done.
5. Merino Lace Socks are the last thing up there. I have finished one and started the second, but it will probably be awhile before they get finished. I love the first one, I just don’t have much sock momentum right now. I’m sure as the cool weather gets closer again I will want to pick up socks and get them finished.
The real reason that I haven’t been working on these things more lately is because since I have wanted to knit again, I have wanted to knit BABY things! And I have done that:)
A Pinwheel Baby blanket of my own design is on the bottom. It is knit in Telemark from Knitpicks and I am planning to line it with something before using or giving it. The tomato hat is a pattern from Knitchicks and is knit with Caron Simply Soft and Lion Wool Ease. I have been craving tomatoes, so I had to make this. There is another hat with natural, yellow and blue stripes. It is 100% cotton and is very cute! I made a pair of lace baby socks – free pattern from The Loopy Ewe. The pair of booties are knit from Perchance to Knit sock yarn in the colorway Tabitha’s socks. I had some leftovers from my socks last year and I think these are my favorite thing:) The pattern is from the book Knitting for Baby (Stay-on-Baby Booties). The other lone bootie (whose mate is being made now) is a free pattern I found on Ravelry a few days ago. I am knitting them with LavenderSheep Silk Noil in Chocolate Raspberry. I can’t decide if I want to make ties with yarn or find some pretty ribbon for them.
You can tell I am assuming that this baby is a boy from that picture. Only one girly item up there. I have 2 days to get through and then I find out, so we will see!
The other two pictures there are of gifts I made for a friend from church who is having a girl in June. The booties are Saartje’s Booties and I want to make more of them even if I don’t have a girl. They are just so cute! I used leftover Socks that Rock lightweight – color Firebird, and some shell buttons from my button bag (of my Nana’s). The lemon hat is knit from Bernat Cottontots in Sunshine and is my own fiddling. I had to make this because she was craving lemons (not sure if she still is, but I still thought it would be cute). I wanted to make a little shirt that said “little lemondrop”, but just didn’t have the time to plan that out and figure out how to do it right. Anyway, she loved them and they were a hit at the shower!
I will save all the catch up pictures and more info for another day. I have uploaded them all though, so it shouldn’t be as difficult to sit down and write. And I’ll come back Monday for sure to make an announcement! We have our second to last soccer game of the spring today (and pictures). For some reason, I’m kind of looking forward to the season being over this time. I usually wish that soccer lasted all year, but I’m just tired this time. Kristopher is doing well though and I’m sure he needs a break so that he doesn’t get burned out. School is almost over for the summer too. Only a week and a half left. There are so many things going on at school – it almost seems silly that they are going for another week, since most of it is fun playing type activities. Oh well, I am planning to be there quite a bit so that I can have some fun too. Tuesday will be a busy day for me, so if anyone wants to pray that I don’t pass out that would be lovely! There is a Volunteer breakfast, for all the people who have volunteered this year, at 7:30 and then at 8:30 I am going on a field trip with Kristopher’s class to the LBL Nature Center (lots of walking, I’m sure). Then that night is the last PTA meeting for the year, which I don’t want to miss. Anyway, I’ll be busy that day.
I guess I’ll save something for another day. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday and a great week next week!

Just a quick post to let everyone know what’s going on here! I will try to actually post some pictures and more info soon, but this will have to do for now…
In January, we found out that we are having another baby (I know this isn’t news to a lot of you, but it will be to some probably) and I am now 19 weeks along. I have already had one ultrasound and have seen the baby. Everything is fine and I have felt the baby move several times the last week and a half. We will find out (hopefully) if the baby is a boy or girl on May 12th. Kody is supposed to go with me, but it is a Monday, so he may not be able to take that hour in the morning if they are busy. Kristopher and Taylor are pretty excited about having another sibling and they are hoping for a brother. We’ve been trying to tell them that you can’t choose, and that God gives the family what and who they need. Hopefully they will understand if it isn’t the boy they are hoping for. I really wanted a boy and then really wanted another girl and now I go back and forth everyday, so I will be very happy no matter what!
Since we found out that our family is going to be increasing, we started looking harder for a house to fit all of us. I don’t think we could stay here any longer with 5 people! The bank told us that they would loan us an outrageous amount, so we started looking at things that we thought we could actually handle and after a few weeks found something that Kody and I both loved when we first walked into. It is actually in New Concord about 10 miles south of Murray, but is on a quiet dead end street and is huge to us. It has pretty much everything we wanted in a home, even a 2 car garage and huge deck on one acre of land. It really is perfect for us, even though it is a little farther than we wanted to go. It does need some fixing up, but not tons, and that is what we wanted. The best thing was that it was in our price range before we even started negotiating! Anyway, we have signed the contract as have the sellers and it is at the bank. So we are just waiting for our loan to go through and we should close on or before May 24th. I went out there yesterday to meet the home inspector and he took me through and showed me what he thought were problems and they were pretty much what Kody and his Dad had already seen. There wasn’t anything big that needed fixing, so we have no reason to back out:) I think the bug (termites & such) inspectors still have to go see what they think, but I’m not sure when that will be. Anyway, we are very excited about this house and have already planned a lot of things that we want to do to it. I’ve picked out all my paint colors; Kody and I still have to negotiate/compromise on those, but I have what I like picked out! All of the downstairs floors except the kitchen and bathrooms are hardwood and are in good shape. The kitchen floor needs to be replaced first, but may have to wait a little bit for the money and the bathrooms need to be replaced, but aren’t really that bad now. We would just want to match them to our paint and have new floors:) The house has 2 walk in closets, plus regular closets in every bedroom. The kids bedrooms will be upstairs with one walk in closet and then the master bedroom and office/craft room will be downstairs. The house even has a sunroom! Anyway, I could talk about this house forever – I’m so excited about it and I hope that it all works out and that we get to move after Kristopher gets out of school.
Kristopher’s last day is May 21. He is still enjoying school. I emailed many of you with the news that he was starting a second grade reading group, since his reading level was so high. He is still doing that and is enjoying it and I hear nothing but good news. We are going to do the summer reading program at the library again this year. It was fun last year and the kids get to “buy” things with the book bucks they earn for reading. Every Monday they have some kind of performer, like a musician or puppeteer or something which is really great for the kids. Taylor even enjoyed going to those last year and since Kristopher couldn’t read then I read all the books and all three of us got a book buck for every book, so she and I even got to “buy” stuff. Taylor had her last storytime at the library on Tuesday. We are going to try to go in the fall to the first few and then when the baby arrives we will have to take a big break. I’m not sure how we are going to work things like soccer in the fall. Kristopher is playing really well and loves it, but I won’t be able to do much with the big kids for several weeks after having this one. Hopefully it will all work out and he will be able to play.
I haven’t been doing much with my knitting and sewing lately. I have made a few things, but haven’t really felt like working on a lot. I am planning to go start some booties in a few minutes. Taylor just went to town with Kody for some errands. He is off today and has to work on Saturday instead this week.
I can’t think of anything else right this minute. If you have any questions for me, just leave me a comment or send an email. I answer email almost everyday. That is so much easier than calling everybody to me and it’s a lot easier to do that with Taylor most of the time. I’ll try to post sooner so that you can all know what we’re doing on the house and baby front!
Don’t forget: Today is National Day of Prayer! Have you thanked God for all the blessings in your life and asked him to help our country? Do it now!!
