Taylor’s Dress
I finished Taylor’s dress yesterday morning and she got to wear it yesterday. It is a little big for her, but at least doesn’t fall off! I took tons of pictures of her wearing it, but none of them are very good (she either wasn’t standing in a good position or there was to much yucky background that nobody needs to see!). But I will show you these.
The front is just pain and the back has a couple of pink bow buttons for closing the neck. I made the size 1 on the pattern, because the butterfly dress I made her last year was a size 1/2 in the same pattern brand and it is too short/small this year. So, the size 1 should have worked (at least in my mind). The only real problems are that the neck opening is a little big and so slides off her shoulder some and the dress is kind of potato sacky looking. The sleeves are adorable though and I loved watching her run around outside wearing it :)
That’s pretty much all I have to say today… Hopefully I will get a good amount of the book I am supposed to be writing about tomorrow read, so I will have something to say!

I finally finished a pair of socks for myself Sunday afternoon. They are so wonderful and I love the pattern I chose with the yarn. Specs below: (click the pictures for larger view)
Pattern: Fancy Silk Sock from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush
Yarn: Handpainted 80/20 Merino/Nylon by Susie Grougan in the colorway “Tabitha’s Socks”
Needles: aluminum (probably boye or susan bates) US size 1 dpns
Modifications: I only did 3 pattern repeats on the cuff instead of the called for 6. The sock would have been very tall and uncomfortable without shaping if I hadn’t. I love these socks and may do more in a solid yarn sometime. If I do, I will probably just do the lace and ribs and leave out the extra bit in row 9 of the lace pattern! I think I would prefer them that way.
In other news: I am still working on the match to that other lonely sock. I am hoping to get most of it done by the time my first sock kit from Blue Moon Fiber Arts comes. I am waiting patiently as the other members get theirs, but I’m sure it will be here soon and then I will have to try to hold off until I finish the rib/cable sock..
I cut out the pieces for Taylor’s dress last night. I was feeling ambitious when I said it would be done by Monday. I am hoping to work on it some after dinner tonight since I bought the elastic for the sleeves today.
It has been a lovely sunshiny(?) week and I can’t wait for it to warm up a little more. The rest of the week here should be in the 60s and I want to break out my capris and flip flops!
Have a great day everyone!

Kody made it home, for all those concerned! He surprised me by coming home last night instead of today (which was great), so I surprised him by not having the house cleaned like I would have if he had waited;) It looks better now and we have had a wonderful day. He’ll be here for the next week if anyone wants to find him and then off he goes again for 3 more weeks. It really surprised me how quickly we slipped back into our routine. I kind of thought it would be awkward having him home after so many weeks doing everything myself, but it isn’t and life is going to be great this week!
I meant to show these pictures Thursday night. When I went out to check the temperature on Thursday morning I glanced “next door” and saw about 20 wild turkeys just walking around and having a good time. So, I did what any sane person does and ran back inside to grab my camera. Then I proceeded to sneak around on my tiptoes in the mud to take pictures of them. I didn’t get very close, but at least they aren’t just brown spots on the picture. Apparently this is a normal occurence here (according to Uncle G), but it was amazing for me to go out and see that many turkeys just hanging out! I thought, briefly, about waking Kristopher up to see them, but knew they’d be gone before he could get outside. The pictures will have to do for now.
I should have a couple of FO’s to post tomorrow or Monday. I’m almost done with a matching pair of socks and I have a quick little dress I want to sew for Taylor tomorrow. I bought some great patchwork fabric for it a few days ago and it is washed now.
Enjoy your evening!
